Following the success of the 2007 Show Below, the award-winning team return with a glittering new line up, showcasing some of the UK’s most exciting illustration, screen prints and original work. The 2008 Show Below which opens on the 10th May at The Brighton Media Centre as part of the 2008 Brighton Fringe Festival is sure to inspire us all.
Eight of last year’s artists have returned including Graham Carter, Richard Beacham, Tony Clements, Sally Elford, Anna Kyriacou, Stephen Elford, James Taylor and Stuart Tolley.
New to this years show are illustrators Zara Wood and Sam Chivers both of whom have a very unique and exciting style which will bring even more delight to this fringe highlight. Also this event is supported by the new online art gallery Boxbird.co.uk. Boxbird, whose studios are based in Brighton, specialise in limited edition prints and original works by a variety of artists including many of those exhibiting at Show Below 2008.
Show Below was a huge hit last year with exhibitor Graham Carter walking away with first prize for the Visual Arts Award, and Anna Kyriacou collecting runner up. The Brighton Media Centre, where this annual show is faithfully held, was also recognised for being an outstanding venue in Brighton.
Graham has been an illustrator and printmaker for 10 years and is one of the founding members of The Show Below, “The Fringe Festival is a unique opportunity to introduce art buyers to fresh new work, and we set up Show Below for exactly that reason”.
